Very exciting changes occurred which will make getting federal student loans easier to discharge in bankruptcy.

In November, the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Justice released new procedures and policies.  These policies should allow many borrowers experiencing financial difficulties to discharge federal student debt through bankruptcy.  Federal student loan debt is not automatically discharged, however, it should now be easier to obtain permanent relief.
